Eighteen TrailBlazers headed to Petit Jean State Park to hike the 4.5 mile Seven Hollows Trail. We left Fort Smith under a grey sky with frigid temps but found blue sky and sunshine as we neared the park.

As we hiked along the trail it warmed up, so we soon began to shed the top layers of clothing.  The trail to the natural bridge is very rocky and steep in places.  We worked our way along the bluff line on the trail that led us up to the turtle rocks and spent some time exploring and enjoying the unusual rock formations.  From there we made our way to our usual lunch spot.

As we were getting ready to leave, a couple from the Memphis area arrived and joined us for the rest of the hike.  We all enjoyed visiting and getting to know Kesha and Des as we walked along.  We made the side trip into the Grotto to find not even a drip of water coming over the falls area but there was a pool of murky water below.  From there we continued on the loop enjoying the beautiful bluffs, another natural bridge and rock formations.  At one spot, one of our members pointed to a cave where she took a selfie once upon a time and discovered a “ghost” in the picture.  It was a little disappointing that the color was spotty and past peak but, overall, it was a beautiful day in the woods with a great group of people.
