Eight TrailBlazers traveled to Cove Lake for the first hike of 2023.
The weather was perfect for hiking with comfortable temperature and cloudy sky. From the parking lot one can choose to take the trail to the top of the mountain or stay low along the shoreline. We chose to climb to the top to take in the view of Mount Magazine in the distance. From there the trail crosses several creeks on wooden bridges built by Boy Scouts several years ago. Last hike at Cove Lake we had to wade mud due to lots of rain. This time it was dry all the way. We had lunch at our usual lunch spot. From there we followed the shore line to the visitors center and on up the hill to the highway and our cars.
