Twelve TrailBlazers made the trip up I-49 to hike at Lake Fort Smith State Park.
It was a cold, nippy morning as we set out on the Ozark Highland Trail that runs all the way to the Missouri border. With the trees in leaf-off, we had great views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. There was very little water in the many drainages that cross the trail. There are a couple of old chimneys still standing that were built by settlers who lived in the area many years ago. Hike leader, Eva, found a great spot to take a lunch break with a nice view. Another great hike in our beautiful state!
